This non traditional Star Wars fan behavior seems to have been gathering steam most recently with the new Disney/Lucasfilm films like The Force Awakens and culminating with The Last Jedi and Solo.

Instead of traditional thoughtful story and character analysis we now have a new wave of hatred towards this franchise rooted in racism, sexism, and general intolerance. What's at the root of this behavior? And, can we ever get back to the open, inclusive, safe environment that Star Wars has always been?
